The customer reviews have started coming in, and this article is a compilation of what Apple users and critics have to say about iOS 11.
Focus on big screen experience
When iOS 10 was released it was very clear that the focus was on improving the user experience on mobile devices. It was almost like Apple was trying to perfect the art of perfection. However, with iOS 11, the focus has shifted to the iPad experience. So, while the iPhone users will hardly notice any change, the iPad users can rejoice with iOS 11.
No design changes
If you are somebody who was expecting a design change then iOS 11 can be disappointing. There are no major design improvements to look forward to. In fact, this is one reason why iPhone users will not really “experience” the upgrade.
Single screen control panel
Apple has come out with a new and compact control panel in iOS 11. Till last year, they had the two-screen format. However, this time they have managed to get all the shortcuts into one single screen. For some people, this may not be so great because it makes the screen look extremely busy and crammed up. This is a true departure from the minimalist style of design.
However, since the control panel is customizable you can simply remove shortcuts of apps that you don’t use regularly and keep things simple. This type of control panel design works better for iPads that already have bigger screen size.
Better camera features
Apple has added flash and image stabilization support to the portrait mode. This makes the camera more useful in dimly lit areas. The file format has also changed to HEIF and HEVC which reduce the size of the image and let you store more in your gallery.
Apple has also added three new effects – loop, bounce, and long exposure – to transform live photos. The long exposure effect will let you replicate the dreamy effect of a DSLR.
The memories feature has also gained some new intelligence. So now it will now recognize different types of events to create an album and will also associate a certain type of music to use with it.
While there are other changes to iOS 11, the ones listed above are the most talked about. But since Apple has already hinted at iPhone X, there are chances of a major revamp in iOS in upcoming months.
